Making Your Own

I've been trying to find things to redecorate my oldest daughters bedroom and I love almost EVERYTHING on the Pottery Barn Teen website. Almost all of the stuff is out of my budget, more like I really don't feel like dishing out that much money for a wall decal.  But there was ONE thing that I loved! 

Betcha can't guess how much this pretty little thing cost?  $149.00!! No that is not a typo, that is the actual price! Well anyways, so I was sitting there thinking I could make one myself.  So I printed out the picture, along with a 50% off coupon to A.C. Moore and off I went.  I found everything I needed, came home and made one. This is mine:

Now I am no artist, but I think it looks pretty good, especially with that cute kid with the blue forehead (don't ask). The only real difference is they had a light blue polka dot background and mine is all light blue. This pretty little picture only cost me $14.47!!!  Yes, $14.47. I just saved myself $134.53!  So you need to remember, that it's not all about clipping coupons. You can save SO MUCH money by making things yourself. Plus, I made this for my daughter, so it has more meaning behind it then if I had just bought it and hung it on her wall.
